The headlines certainly give an appearance that a hot conflict still is possible on the Ukrainian-Russian border. However, just as important to point out, diplomacy is also still possible. The uncertainty could persist for some time. Until then, investors are putting the cart before the horse and selling everything that radiates risk. The Japanese Yen and gold futures have been receiving bids all week as geopolitics puts the icing on what’s been a very large cake of risk.
