Chasing government bonds, China equities| Ausbiz
Oreana Financial Services’ Isaac Poole likes front-end sovereign bonds and Chinese stocks as investment options at present, but now is not the time to be venturing too far down the capital stack when it comes to riskier corporate bonds.
On fixed interest, Isaac says he’s increased exposure to government bonds, especially the US and Australia as yields have backed up. “We think yields at these levels offer good income and downside protection,” he says.
Having just returned from Hong Kong for business, Isaac staunchly remains a China bull, suggesting the reopening has much further to go and is still not fully priced in the equity market.
“We expect global inflows will provide another leg higher,” he says.
