Is the Fed planning a hawkish hike in June? | Ausbiz

Unless there is unexpected new data, the Fed will proceed with a hike in June. This is the view of Isaac Poole from Oreana Financial Services, who say the Fed has a hawkish bias. He highlights the possibility of a recession, which could be exacerbated by restricting interest rates. Isaac does not believe that a soft landing is possible, though inflationary pressures may weaken over 12-18 months, but less so with each rate hike.

Isaac says investors must remain alert and focus on key indicators including the manufacturing PMI, yield curve, and initial jobless claims to prepare for the possibility of recession and to build downside protection in portfolios.
